Unit 5 Preview Question
Look at the survey topics on p. 110. Choose the topic that you think has experienced the most success in terms of global cooperation and another topic that you think has seen the least amount of success. Explain why you chose each topic. That is, what do know about the topic that makes you think global cooperation HAS/HASN'T resulted in success? Please write at least eight sentences in your response.

ReplyDeleteI thought maintaining peace is the highest and developing new technology is the lowest because peace is caused by countries around the world and new technology tend to be invented in one specific country. For example, when East Japan earthquake happen, many countries contributed to Japan by doing fund raising and giving foods. This means countries around the world is praying peace for Japan. The peace will not be maintained without world cooperation with each other. On the other hand, developing new technology depends on each country. Speaking of the people who get The Nobel Prizes, many of them research in their own countries and got those prizes. It's common to research and develop new technologies with one group or institution in one country. I thought the world cooperation is necessary to keep the world peaceful and the individual effort is good for developing new technologies.
ReplyDeleteI think advancing science and medicine is the most success field, and maintaining peace is the least success in terms of global cooperation. Advancing science and medicine is the common goal of human beings. We all want more comfortable and healthy life. The representative example is the Human Genome Project. It was the international and collaborative program whose goal was the complete mapping and understanding of all the genes of human beings to realize the welfare of human beings by conquering all diseases. Having the common goal is really important in the success in terms of global cooperation. On the other hand, many countries in the world have the religious and political conflicts each other. They all want to gain the upper hand. It's really difficult to solve problems by communication and compromise. However, maintaining peace is the most important point to have to solve in terms of global cooperation.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, I think that developing new technology is the most successful topic because the electronic products are the most upgraded devices more than one time during the year. Today, we are overwhelmed with the technology products such as laptops, iPods, cellphons and tablets that created by various companies specially Apple and Samsung. Also, these companies upgrade their products and make sales to attract the customers. In my country, the technology devices are available everywhere even in the supermarkets with cheaper prices than the producer company. Also, many communication programs such as Facebook, twitter and Skype create applications for smartphone devices to make it easier to communicate with people. On the other hand, I think that stopping spread diseases is the lowest successful around the world because we can't control the people and the animal that was infected by the diseases. Also, there are many contagious diseases that don't have cure or medicines, so the problem will be complicated when it is spread between people. An example of these diseases, HIV attacks the immunity system and makes it weaker, so the people die after a couple of years. Moreover, the diseases are unlimited which means there are enormous of disease that are not discovered yet. The viruses of these diseases can develop itself and be very strong. As a result, the developing new technology is resulted in the most success while stopping spread diseases is the least success.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion developing new technology is the most successful field in terms of global cooperation. Today, it is easy to communicate to other people who lives anywhere in the world. Now, we have iphone 5, tablets, ipods, and laptops that many people use for communicating and sharing information to other people around the world. Communication technology is continue improving, you can see the person who is talking by skype. On the other hand, I think maintaining peace is the least success in terms of global coooperation. Because many counties still have problem about peace and order.I think this issue is the hardest one to solve because every country have different beliefs. However, If the United Nation is creating and continuing find a solution about peace and order, the world will become peaceful.
